Professional Plant Health Care for South Florida

The trees, palms, and shrubs on your property are a significant part of your home's curb appeal and value. But in South Florida's climate, they face constant pressure from insect pests like whiteflies and scale, fungal diseases fueled by humidity and rain, and nutrient deficiencies in our sandy, alkaline soil. Without consistent care, even healthy-looking plants can decline quickly, and once a tree or hedge is severely damaged, recovery is slow and expensive.

At Royal Pest & Termite, our residential tree and shrub care program addresses all three pillars of plant health: fertilization to keep your plants nourished, insect control to protect them from the pests that feed on South Florida landscapes, and disease control to prevent and treat the fungal infections that thrive in our humid climate.

Our Three Tree & Shrub Care Services

Tree & Shrub Fertilization

South Florida’s sandy, alkaline soil doesn’t hold nutrients the way clay-based soils do. Essential micronutrients like manganese, magnesium, and iron leach quickly, leaving trees and shrubs deficient despite appearing to have adequate soil. Our tree and shrub fertilization service delivers nutrients directly where your plants need them through two complementary methods: Granular Fertilization & Deep Root Injection.

Tree & Shrub Insect Control

Insect pests are the most visible and immediate threat to ornamental plants in Broward County. Left untreated, a whitefly infestation can defoliate a ficus hedge in weeks, and scale insects can turn a healthy shrub into a sticky, sooty mess. Our tree and shrub insect control service provides both preventive treatments to stop infestations before they start and curative treatments to eliminate active pest populations.

Tree & Shrub Disease Control

South Florida’s heat and humidity create ideal conditions for fungal diseases that attack ornamental plants. Our disease control service provides preventive fungicide treatments to protect healthy plants and curative treatments to stop active infections from spreading.

What Happens When Trees & Shrubs Are Neglected

Insect Populations Explode: Whiteflies and scale multiply rapidly in warm climates, turning a healthy hedge into a defoliated one within weeks if untreated.

Hidden Nutrient Decline: Sandy soil drains nutrients quickly, leading to slow, unseen deficiencies that only become apparent once plants are already weakened.

Disease Spreads Easily: Fungal infections spread quickly through hedges and clumps of plants, allowing one infected shrub to affect the entire row.

Replacement Costs Add Up: Mature plants are expensive and slow to regrow, making preventive care far more cost-effective than replacement.

Just had a No Tent Termite Service completed today. I live in Miramar and wanted to use a local company. I am very satisfied. The process began 2 weeks ago with their Sales Representative Aaron Wilton. I am in sales so I recognize a professional. He was knowledgeable and presented options clearly without pressure including attractive payment terms. The 2 techs who preformed the service were Greg and Michael who were polite, through and efficient. I would certainly recommend Royal Pest.

Tree & Shrub Care FAQs

What services are included in your tree and shrub care program?
We offer three core services: fertilization (deep root injection and granular application), insect control (preventive and curative treatment for whiteflies, scale, aphids, and other ornamental pests), and disease control (fungicide treatments for leaf spot, root rot, and other fungal infections). You can enroll in individual services or combine them for comprehensive plant health care.
What are whiteflies and how do I know if I have them?
Whiteflies are tiny, white-winged insects that feed on the undersides of leaves. If you shake a branch or hedge and a cloud of tiny white insects flies up, you have whiteflies. Other signs include yellowing leaves, leaf drop, sticky honeydew residue on leaves and surfaces below the plant, and black sooty mold growing on the honeydew. Whiteflies are the most common and most damaging insect pest on ornamental plants in South Florida.
What is the black stuff on my plant leaves?
The black coating is sooty mold, a fungus that grows on the sticky honeydew excreted by whiteflies, scale, or aphids feeding on the plant above. Sooty mold itself doesn’t infect the plant, but it blocks sunlight and weakens the leaves. The solution is to eliminate the insect infestation that’s producing the honeydew. Once the insects are treated, the sooty mold washes away gradually.
How often should trees and shrubs be fertilized?
We typically recommend four fertilizer applications per year during the growing season. For healthy, well-established plants, two applications per year may be sufficient. The specific schedule depends on the species, condition, and nutritional needs of your trees and shrubs. Our fertilization uses a combination of deep root injection (for larger trees and palms) and granular application (for shrubs and ornamentals).
Is the treatment safe for my pets?
Yes. The products we use are applied to tree and shrub foliage, trunks, and root zones, not on lawn surfaces where pets play. Systemic insecticides are absorbed into plant tissue, not left as residues on surfaces. Our company was named after our owner's dog; pet safety is a core value.
Do you offer tree and shrub care for commercial properties?
Yes. We provide tree and shrub care for commercial properties, HOA communities, and any property with ornamental landscaping. Visit our Commercial Tree & Shrub Care page for details.
