Professional Mosquito Treatment for South Florida Homes

If you've given up on using your patio, pool area, or backyard because mosquitoes take over the moment you step outside, you're dealing with what every homeowner knows: South Florida mosquitoes are relentless. Our warm, humid climate and frequent rainfall create ideal breeding conditions year-round, and the species that thrive here, including the Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus (Asian tiger mosquito), are aggressive daytime biters that don't wait until dusk to find you.

At Royal Pest & Termite, our mosquito control service uses a two-part approach to dramatically reduce the mosquito population on your property.

The Real Risks of Mosquitoes in South Florida

Mosquitoes aren't just a nuisance that ruins your evening on the patio, they're a genuine health concern, especially in South Florida:

Disease Transmission

Mosquitoes in Broward County can transmit serious diseases, including West Nile virus, Eastern equine encephalitis, Zika virus, and dengue fever.

Daytime Biting

Unlike mosquito species in cooler climates that are primarily active at dawn and dusk, the Aedes mosquitoes common in South Florida bite aggressively during the day.

Pet Health Risks

Mosquitoes transmit heartworm to dogs. In South Florida, where mosquitoes are active year-round, heartworm prevention is a 12-month necessity.

Year-Round Pressure

In most of the country, freezing temperatures kill off mosquito populations each winter. In Broward County, that doesn't happen.

Rapid Breeding

Mosquitoes reproduce extremely quickly in South Florida's warm, wet climate. Even small amounts of standing water, such as in plant saucers, gutters, birdbaths, pool equipment, or yard drains.

Property Enjoyment

Ultimately, mosquitoes keep you from using the outdoor spaces you're paying for. Your patio, your pool deck, your yard, if mosquitoes make them unusable, you're losing the value of your property every day.

How Our Mosquito Yard Treatment Works

From your first call to ongoing protection, here's what to expect when you partner with Royal Pest & Termite.

Mosquito Trapping

We deploy innovative mosquito traps on your property that work continuously to attract and eliminate mosquitoes. These traps use attractants that mimic the cues mosquitoes follow to find hosts, including CO2, heat, and moisture, to lure mosquitoes in and capture them. Traps work around the clock, catching mosquitoes during the day and night, reducing the breeding population over time.

Targeted Yard Fogging

In addition to trapping, we fog the areas where mosquitoes rest and hide during inactive hours. Mosquitoes spend most of their time in shaded, moist parts of your yard, such as under eaves and overhangs, inside dense shrubs and hedges, in tree canopies, along fence lines and pergolas, and near water features like birdbaths or decorative ponds.

Why Mosquitoes Are a Year-Round Problem in South Florida

No Winter Die-Off: Broward County rarely drops below 60°F, so mosquito populations remain active year-round rather than dying off in winter.

Rainy Season Surge: From June through October, frequent storms create standing water, allowing mosquito populations to multiply rapidly.

Aggressive Species: Common species like Aedes aegypti and Asian tiger mosquitoes are aggressive daytime biters, making outdoor activities uncomfortable all day.

Urban Breeding Sites: Landscaping, irrigation, and tropical plants create many hidden breeding spots, even in well-maintained yards (bromeliads, gutters, plant saucers, runoff).

Just had a No Tent Termite Service completed today. I live in Miramar and wanted to use a local company. I am very satisfied. The process began 2 weeks ago with their Sales Representative Aaron Wilton. I am in sales so I recognize a professional. He was knowledgeable and presented options clearly without pressure including attractive payment terms. The 2 techs who preformed the service were Greg and Michael who were polite, through and efficient. I would certainly recommend Royal Pest.

Mosquito Control FAQs

How much does mosquito control cost?
The cost depends on the size of your property, the level of mosquito pressure, and the service frequency you choose. A single treatment costs less than an ongoing monthly plan, but ongoing service produces significantly better results because mosquito populations rebuild between treatments. We provide estimates based on your property. Call us to discuss pricing.
Is the mosquito treatment safe for my pets and kids?
Yes. The products we use for both trapping and fogging are selected to be safe for pets and children. We recommend staying off treated surfaces until the fogging product has dried, which typically takes about 30 minutes. Once dry, the treated areas are safe for your family and pets to use. Our company was named after the owner's dog; pet safety is a core value.
How often should I get mosquito treatment?
For the best results in Broward County, we recommend monthly treatments at minimum. During the rainy season (June through October), bi-weekly treatments may be needed to keep up with peak mosquito populations. Because South Florida mosquitoes are active year-round, most homeowners see the best long-term results with consistent, year-round treatment.
What’s the difference between a mosquito trap and fogging?
Traps work continuously by attracting and capturing mosquitoes, reducing the overall population over time. Fogging provides an immediate knockdown of adult mosquitoes resting in your landscape and leaves a residual barrier on treated surfaces. We use both methods together because the combination is more effective than either alone, trapping for sustained population reduction, fogging for immediate relief, and residual protection.
Are mosquitoes in Florida active year-round?
Yes. Broward County’s subtropical climate keeps mosquitoes active every month. There is no hard freeze to cause a population die-off. Mosquito activity peaks during the rainy season (June through October) but remains present throughout the winter months as well. Year-round treatment produces the best results.
Can mosquitoes transmit diseases in Florida?
Yes. Mosquitoes in South Florida can transmit West Nile virus, Eastern equine encephalitis, dengue fever, and Zika virus. While not every mosquito carries disease, the species most common in Broward County, particularly Aedes aegypti, are known disease vectors. Mosquitoes also transmit heartworm to dogs, which is why year-round heartworm prevention and reducing mosquito populations are both important for pet owners.
